About Me

An Idea Is Born

I began by renovating my home and redesigning my garden on a tight budget so started to revive and update a few items instead of throwing things away and buying new. Thinking about the environmental impact of my ever changing interiors I decided to make a difference and enrolled on a mosaic workshop. Having done a little tiling  when renovating my home I figured the skill set must be similar. This box is one of my first designs on a bamboo storage container  that had faded and looked shabby. I put a different image on every side so it can be turned around or viewed from every angle on a table.

Upcycling turns things into other things which is like magic!

Next I tried a few plant pots as seen here. This was an old terracotta pot that was chipped and almost got smashed up to use as crock in my planters. But now it has pride of place on my conservatory windowsill which will never fade in the sunlight.

From trash to treasure from an old jam jar to a beautiful light

These Glass Jar Tea Lights have become my favourite thing to upcycle. made from a conserve jar, hand cut stained glass, coloured glass pebbles and trimmed with a Tibetan silver cat charm. They look so very pretty when lit, with myriad dancing lights on the surface and against a wall.

This is an old wall mounted mirror that was left in the house by the previous owner. It had a melamine front which was peeling off so I removed it all leaving a clean MDF base. As you can see I experimented with the design using lots of different colours & textures. All of the tiles & glass pebbles were left over from other projects and pieces that I rescued from being thrown away by friends & family who now are a regular source of recycled materials.
